We don’t just run together, we also get together for various social events.
There are two club dinners each year which are open to all runners and their partners; one during the summer where the club awards are presented and of course a Christmas Do which usually takes place in January when the festivities have calmed down and our diaries are quieter!
We like to try our different restaurants, usually in Huddersfield town centre with recent dinners taking place at The Keys, Ciao Bella and Marimonte. Occasionally we have ventured further afield with the summer 2013 dinner at Heritage Coffee Mill and Bistro in Lindley. The picture below shows our 2015 Christmas meal:
In September 2014 five HRRAC members competed in the Budapest half marathon. Congratulations to our five runners who all achieved their times and beat the bus! The race was followed on the day by celebratory drinks and meal with partners who accompanied club members on the trip, and then a few more days seeing the highlights of Budapest; Danube river cruise, Buda castle, the Parliament building, a wine festival, touring Margaret Island on golf buggies, just to name a few activities. This now seems to be an annual tradition of combining an international race with exploring a new city and relaxing over local cuisine and a few refreshments.
May 2013 saw some HRRAC members and their partners travel to Trieste in Northern Italy. The trip was organised primarily for club members to participate in either Europe's most beautiful half marathon or the 7k fun run, but also managed to fit in some local sightseeing as well as relaxing over good food and a few drinks. In fact it was decided there was so much to see and do in the area that the trip was extended by a couple of days to squeeze in a visit to Venice. A good time was had by all!
A group from HRRAC took part in the Gothenburg half marathon in 2011 and the trip was such a great success that many of those who participated wanted to return in 2012.
The 2012 Gothenburg trip saw an increased turnout of 11 members taking part and two husbands tagging along as 'logistical support'. A great time was had by all, not just on race day which saw a few members achieving a PB, but also during the days afterwards exploring the sights of Gothenburg.
