The Huddersfield 10k

Due to the current COVID-19 situation and uncertainty about holding events we have decided to cancel the 2021 Huddersfield 10k planned for Sunday 28th February. The next Huddersfield 10k will take place in February 2022.

2020 Race Report

Our race is held on the last Sunday in February each year, with the last event taking place on Sunday 23rd February 2020.

Following Storm Ciara and Storm Dennis on the previous two weekends, then heavy rain and strong wind forecast for race weekend, we were lucky to escape with a couple showers.

This years race was full by mid January which was a record earliest closing for entries and by race day we had a waiting list of over 100 runners. We're very grateful for the incredible level of interest the race has seen this year and we encourage anyone wanting to take part in the 2021 Huddersfield 10k to enter early!

As in 2019 the race started at an earlier time of 09:30, but it hasn't put people off and we still had runners entering from across the North of England. We also had over 100 runners coming from Steel City Striders RC thanks to the race featuring on their club championship!

The men's (and race) winner was Joe Sweetnam-Powell from Steel City Striders RC in a time of 34:32 minutes, closely followed by fellow Steel City Striders RC member Liam Walker with 34:45 minutes. Third place went to Fionn Kerry from Holmfirth Harriers AC who finished in 36:46 minutes.

The female winner was Sally Armitage, an over 40 vet from Ilkley Harriers who finished with a time of 42:03 minutes. The second female was Bridget Coomber of Denby Dale AC, an over 55 vet in a time of 43:08 minutes. Third place went to Emily Cowper-Coles, an open category member of Denby Dale AC in 43:37 minutes.

First place in both the male and female team competition went to Steel City Striders RC.

Flaming Photography were out on the course and their photos can be found at

Full race results for this and previous years can be found in the table below.

Thank you to everyone who took part and we hope you enjoyed the undulating Yorkshire course and the great weather on the day. We hope to see you all again in 2021.

Want to join?

Prospective members are invited to come and run with us on a 'try it and see basis' for a few weeks before making the decision to join as a member. If you decide Huddersfield Road Runners is for you, there is an annual membership fee of £40 payable in June. Find out more
